From the creators of “Shopper Approved,” Share It Effect is a referral marketing platform that makes it easy to share your referral link to social media with an embedded hashtag. When a user clicks "Add to Cart", there will be a pop up that suggests that the user share this product or brand to social media, to receive a discount. Most brands using Share It Effect are typically offering something like 10% off.
After the user shares, they receive a single-use coupon code, unique to them, which you can track through to redemption on the store. From there you can see the traffic coming in from all of the share’s, and track the revenue boost that comes from getting advocates to talk about you on their social media.
Currently this only works for sharing to Facebook, more channels will be coming soon.
In the backend, you can track shares/posts and can see clicks from the content to the site. They use an estimated impression counter (because you can’t actually see this data point, Facebook doesn’t allow it) based on share and click data.
This is by far, much cheaper than Facebook/Instagram ads, and a lot more authentic.
Worth noting: The pop up only occurs the first time you share, and won’t re-show after the user has completed the share.
Right now, the user will share out featuring the entire store, not individual products.
What’s a Rich Text element?
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
Share it Effect is a slimmed down referral platform that only cares about one experience: Getting pre-sale add to cart customers to talk about you on social media (currently only Facebook). Most other referral marketing platforms don’t even offer this as a feature.
Share It Effect is increasing traffic and sales coming from social media. They increase social proof of your brand, and overall bring a more positive sentiment about your brand on social. They also increase hashtag usage, since you’re able to add hashtags to the “generic blurb” that you have pre-populate for each user to share.
Typically you’re setting this tool up as the founder/co-founder, as a social media manager, head of marketing, or as the head of Ecommerce. You can get setup and running in a few minutes and shouldn’t require any developer costs.
From your dashboard you can set the discount, add your logo, add the hashtag you want to use for this campaign, the description that will be prepared for the share, and then you’re off and running.
From there you may come in to adjust copy or discount percentage based on results.
Share It Effect can be for stores of any size, but you really need a viral and/or visual oriented product that people will want to share out on Facebook/social. This is better for brands on Facebook or with an existing Facebook advertising budget (it doesn’t have to be big).
Share it Effect is not for brands in the adult space, or any other category where the user would never want to share about you (any type of “private” purchase).
Larger stores may be looking for a more robust referral platform, but you can use this tool in conjunction with another platform.
If you aren’t on Facebook or social media at all right now, as a brand, then you probably don’t need to invest in a tool like Share It Effect. Use this to amplify existing brand affinity, not start it from scratch.
