What is Gatsby?

Gatsby a new kind of influencer marketing platform built on top of Shopify, Instagram and other marketing automation tools.

It identifies influential customers and triggers workflows to help brands build fully automated influencer and micro-influencer strategies, eliminating the manual processes of finding influencers, coordinating collabs, tracking when influencers post, issuing rewards, and measuring performance.

Most “big name” influencers know the value of their followings and will reach out to brands to negotiate a partnership. Gatsby takes a different approach by helping you to identify potential influencers within your existing database. For example, say you have a customer that has 1,500 followers and actively buys from you. With only 1,500 followers, they probably aren’t even thinking about being an influencer, but their recommending your product can lead to new revenue for you. So, you trigger an automated email campaign to see if they are interested, reel them in with an offer, create an affiliate link for tracking and voula - you’re done! Now imagine being able to do this for hundreds of potential influencers at the same time? Instead of having one influencer who has 100,000+ followers, you can have an army of micro influencers amounting to the same reach. Either way, their recommendation of your company leads to brand awareness, customer retention and new revenue. And all of this is done automatically for you through Gatsby.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

What makes Gatsby different than competitors?

Gatsby focuses on helping businesses of all sizes discover who can help promote their business. Regardless of your demographic or product offerings, there are most likely people who already buy from you that can recommend your brand. By simply asking for a customers’ Instagram handle, Gatsby can provide actionable insights for you along with the conversational tools to take them. It essentially allows you to cultivate a revenue stream without having to expel a lot of time or effort.

They also offer the ability to filter your data by the number of followers a handle has, as well as when they last shopped with your store. This allows you to see who might have the largest reach along with how recently they purchased from you. Filtering for this data is easily done within your dashboard and shows you the handle, number of followers, a picture of the individual and lets you click directly on their handle to see their Instagram account.

What metrics is Gatsby going to improve for my Ecommerce store?

Gatsby has determined that companies asking for an Instagram handle from their customers will see a 33% opt-in rate. So ⅓ of all customers will provide you the information necessary to track their social media activities and engagement, leading to an increase in opportunities for you to grow your business. One company even said that Gatsby is directly responsible for 30-35% of their Shopify sales with an 1800% ROI.

Overall, each company will have to decide what the value of a program like this is for them - whether they are looking to reduce the time their staff spends searching for influencers, tracking top line sales or looking at individual metrics, they should see a positive impact. I guess I just don’t see how acquiring an army of micro influencers who are praising your brand could be a bad thing.

Who has to manage Gatsby and how long does it take to setup?

Gatsby integrates with thousands of apps, including major email engines like Mailchimp and Klaviyo to make it easy to create and segment campaigns by influencer size or type. They offer a Refersion integration to help you manage and track your influencer database, and they integrate with Stripe for easy and transparent payments and refunds.

Is Gatsby right for my store?

Merchants that have an established brand with confirmed revenue channels should definitely consider a micro influencer tool like Gatsby. It is something that can be incorporated into your current marketing plan and take your business to the next level.

Likewise, any business that is currently utilizing influencer marketing should consider a tool like Gatsby. Most influencer marketing platforms help to track individual results from influencers you already have, or connect you with “professional” influencers that would be a fit for your business. But Gatsby can work with those tools to identify individuals already within your database, expanding your network and increasing your reach.

Any company that doesn’t have established traffic shouldn’t look to influencers as a primary source of advertising. It is really a secondary form of marketing that should be used in conjunction with already functioning marketing channels. Specifically with Gatsby, if you don’t have a large customer database, you can’t discover potential influencers from within it.
